Another weekend away, but a busy weekend this time, so I spent only 1.5 hours on it (total 27.5). I worked some more on the blackwork/cross stitch on the inside of the second pattern.

Another weekend away, and another weekend spent working on the Vierlande. I spent 12 hours on it this week, for a total of 26 hours. I finished my first (center) pattern, and decided to work on page 1 first. I did the outline of the second pattern and started on the center, but this one contains some blackwork so that is slowing me down a bit.

I only worked a couple of hours on A Mon Seul Desir this week, pics will be updated later and because I don’t have to work next week I hope to spend more hours working on it.

I spent the weekend away, so I took the Vierlande kit with me for some stitching. Between having fun I spent about 6.5 hours stitching on the center piece (for a total of 14 hours now, including frogging). Although I love the design the combination of the stiff fabric and the threads makes stitching a pain sometimes. I have way more knots and thread breaks that I do on Mon Seul Desir, even though this thread is also DMC… But, on the positive side, it is nice to see some quick results.

Permin Vierlande – Week 1

I have been staying at my mom’s house for the past few weeks, and she has a sewing machine. This gave me the chance to finally prepare the linnen for the Permin Vierlande, and I couldn’t wait to start. I stitched on it for a few evenings. This will be my travel project, so I will work on it mostly away from home.

Of course, I started on it the wrong way. I started in the middle, but due to the frame I had the linnen turned 90 degrees to what it should’ve been. So, two hours of stitching had to be taken out and I could start again. I am loving this already, it is so much easier than A mon seul desir, and the result is so much more instant. It is very different!

Oh yeah, this is 7,5 hours of work (including frogging….)

New kit: Permin’s Vierlande 1826

The surgery on my wrist went fine, and I will soon be back stitching again. Today we went into Groningen for some shopping and I couldn’t resist the lovely craft shop (Sajet). They had several great sampler kits for sale (mostly Permin). I love the monotone samplers, and when I saw the one on the left for sale (almost 50% off) I couldn’t resist. It is Permin’s Vierlande 1826, an original old design from the collection of Museum Celle in Germany. I bought a full kit with brown linnen (I think it is 32 count) and blue and red DMC. The design features initials and a year (1826) but I think I will change them so they fit me (my and Henk’s initials and the year I will finish it). The lettering is from the alphabets and numbers featured elsewhere on the design, so changing it should be no problem. I am planning to start this when I finish “I love dogs” but I don’t know if I can wait that long… :D
