Publicity for Epic Mario

crafsterNow that the Epic Mario Cross Stitch is (finally) finished , I started showing it of (virtually at least). I posted it on several crafty communities and one gaming website I work at. It was well received everywhere. One thing that surprised me the most was that everybody finds the piece so large, while I found it a good size, not too big, not too small. It is only because I am working on a huge piece now that I am not doing another big gaming piece.  Anyway, posts can be found here:

- Crafster
- Craftbubble
- Stitchers showcase
- Budgetgaming (dutch)

Also, I was honored with a post on Sprite Stitch, where I got the pattern and inspiration: Large Super Mario Sampler Finished!

It is very nice to hear such positive remarks :D

Super Mario Cross Stitch Finished!

Epic Mario Cross-Stitch Week 18 (December 8 2008) - FINISHED! I did it! I finished the Epic Super Mario Cross Stitch I started nearly 10 months ago. To recap:

I got the pattern here, on Sprite Stitch. I started on February 23rd 2008, and finished on December 8th 2008.
It measures 200 x 150 stitches, and was stitched on even weave, over one (I know I should have done over two, but this is my first cross stitch…).
I used one strand of DMC. The colors I used were:
310 – Black
White
221 – Dark red (bricks)
906 – Light green
950 – Pink (for the light touches on the bricks)
434 – Brown
699 – Dark green
321 – Red
3823 – Broken white
995 – Blue (two skeins)
740 – Orange.

Super Mario Cross Stitch week 18

Well, this weekend we aren’t spending at home. So, I packed a whole bag with both the Super Mario Cross Stitch, as well as suplies for the “A Mon Seul Desir” cross stitch. I had finished the logo on thursday, and got started on the cloud. I am working from large to small, since I really don’t like doing the big white parts…
Anyway, I got my supplies, a bobbin full of white…. and it wasn’t enough! So now I got everything done, except the flower.. Ah well, monday I’ll be home, and it will be finished. Yay! Pictures will follow then.

Super Mario Cross Stitch week 17

DSCF0413.JPG More and more white gets filled in. I finished the white between the letters of the logo, and am now working on the white above the letters. Then I only need to fill in the few white parts in the picture… and I will be done. I am counting on one more week of work.

Super Mario Cross Stitch week 16

Epic Mario Cross-Stitch Week 16 (November 23 2008)Another week, and more work on the Super Mario Cross Stitch. I am working hard to get it finished, I hate doing white on white. I finished the white around the “tendo” part of the logo, still working on the “Nin”. I am hoping to have at least the white around the letters done by sunday, but I don’t know if I have the time.

I started using the Super Frame I bought last week, and even though it makes progress slower, the results are neater. The reason that it’s slower is that before I used the frame, I wouldn’t pull my needle to the back. This made things quicker, but not very neat. You only see this up close, so I never had a problem with it, but still, this is better.

Super Mario Cross Stitch week 15

Epic Mario Cross-Stitch Week 15 (November 16 2008) I finished the logo this week, and that means I am done…. with colors. I will fill up all the white spots with white thread. I actually started doing this and am almost done with the part below the Nintendo letters. It is hard to do (white on white), but I find it more beautiful.

Super Mario Cross Stitch week 14

Epic Mario Cross-Stitch Week 14 (October 26 2008)After a break of almost 5 months I started working on the Super Mario Cross Stitch again. The summer was too hot to stitch, I keep getting sweaty hands and that would stain the work. I finished the red border around the logo this week, and started to work on the letters.
